Literature Text

Memories have a way
of freezing over time,
losing validity and brilliance
to the ponderings of what could have been.

Eventually,
we lose sight of the way things were
and instead scrape our fairytales
into the forefront of our minds.

We forget to remember the details
and create a world
where every look becomes significant
(the evil one is planning something;
she glared at me)

and every word is a code to be deciphered
(yes with a hint of a suggestive tone;
he likes me)
.

Soon enough,
the memories we once cherished
no longer exist,
lost to the garbles of time
and fading images.

Memories.

Just another form of make-believe
in the grand scheme of things
once the cobwebs have been cleared away.

I was curious to find this as my first :+fav: of your work. It's been a remarkably long time, TP.
