Everything has a small beginning
(a breath of air
amidst the stench of lilac blooms;
a tear
flowing down a weathered cheek;
love making its mark
across concrete chests
and marble eyes)
But grows slowly and surely
To be something much more.

has mutated into rosy skin,
jewels of sun caught in your golden locks
as laughter jingles from your throat with confidence)

The sunlight shines off you

Your scent accosts me;
the sweet smell of lilies
that lingers to hold me captive)
a fact unknown to you because of
the clouded mirror in which you peer.

Your mind has been altered
(They have manipulated you
into believing their lies
created to keep you tied,
shackled to the ground
instead of soaring the skies
in which you belong.)
And you're drowning yourself.
