The hatter with violet hair,
sharp as needles
and filled with puppet strings and needful things.
The mad hatter with twilight-prismed eyes
and a smile that could get him anywhere but Heaven,
because they see through him there.
The mad hatter in a polka-dot bowtie
stalks the city in silence and thirst,
longing for a redemption he's afraid he'll never touch.
Throughout the locked-down,
held-up,
no-one's-going-anywhere-without-permission days
he caused,
the hatter plucks strings across guitars
and warbles country ballads of remorse.
Of loss.
Seeing you coming
he runs away and hides in the rabbit hole,
the perfect fit for everyone but him
because he can't suck in his ribs enough to break loose now.
The mad hatter sings his Aria
of sunrises he'll always be stuck beneath.
The mad hatter writes his opera
of surrendering to fate and moving on.

The mad hatter. I always prefered American Mcgee's version, since it showed the true dedication of him.
